SYMPOSIUM by Plato
PIME THEATRE
15th April 2026 at 20:30
Plato's dialogue dedicated to love is presented as a refined conversation – perhaps the most beautiful conversation in the history of literature – between excellent minds.
Athens, 416 BC. The poet Agathon wins the tragic competitions with his first play. To celebrate, the cream of Athenian intellectuals is invited to a symposium, a ritual banquet during which the guests drink wine, sing, listen to music and discuss various topics. Through their voices, Plato offers an extraordinary fresco of Greek sensibility towards love: the two forms of Aphrodite, the myth of the androgyne, the softness and harshness of Eros, the nature of desire.
