CHRISTIAN POGGIONI

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1972, he was admitted by Giorgio Strehler to the Piccolo Teatro School in Milan, where he graduated in acting in 1999. In 2000, he graduated with honours from the University of Milan and in 2003, he obtained a diploma in directing with top marks from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
From 1999 to 2006, he acted in plays directed by Giorgio Strehler, Peter Stein, Massimo Castri and Antonio Calenda, taking part in national and European tours. During the same period, he participated in numerous television, film and radio productions for Mediaset, RAI and Radio Svizzera Italiana.
In 2007, he embarked on a path of independent research and production, directing and performing in the shows Tradimenti, Nostos, Alla ricerca del tempo perduto, Alla corte di un giullare and Apologia di Socrate. In 2008, he was assistant director at the Kaye Playhouse in New York for the production of Le nozze di Figaro. In 2012, he directed and performed in two plays by E. E. Schmitt: La notte degli ulivi (The Night of the Olive Trees) and Il Vangelo secondo Pilato (The Gospel According to Pilate), which premiered at the Teatro Sociale in Como.
From 2002 to 2010, he was director of the Gianfranco Mauri theatre workshop at the Accademia dei Licini in Erba, for which he produced Boccaccio's Decameron, Dante's Inferno and Gli Zanni. Since 2006, he has been commissioned by the province of Como to produce shows and workshops for primary schools in the area.
In 2010, he founded the La congiura dei Poeti theatre school, with which he produced Molière's George Dandin, Goldoni's Il Campiello and Shakespeare's King Lear.
Since 2009, he has been collaborating with the Catholic University of Milan as a drama teacher at the Ancient Drama Workshop and the Advanced Training Course in Ancient Theatre. He is currently vice-president of the Kerkís. Teatro Antico In Scena association.
